OPEN ENROLLMENT for Mn sure. (Health Insurance)

The next open enrollment period will, in effect, only be two weeks shorter that previous open enrollments, running from 11/1/2017-1/14/2018.

The federal open enrollment is 11/1/2017-12/15/2017, and MNsure is creating a special enrollment period for all Minnesotans from12/16/2017-1/14/2018.

This is coming on the heels of more good news – at least in the short-term – with the proposed rates for 2018 holding steady and in some cases going down.  That is, given that federal approval is granted for the reinsurance program.

Our October Meeting Update

A special Thank you to Penny LaBerge and the Parish Nurses at Lakeview Covenant Church who hosted our meeting this month. Special thanks to Lezlie Oachs and Meredith Shifsky from the McCabe Renewal Center who led us through a “Centering Prayer Exercise”.  The Centering Prayer is also known as the Prayer of Consent.

It is a method designed to facilitate the development of contemplative prayer by preparing our faculties to receive the gift of God. It presents ancient Christian wisdom teachings in an updated form. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them. This method of prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Him.

The Health Ministries Association (HMA) is the national professional membership organization for faith community nurses/parish nurses. They developed the Faith Community Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice in collaboration with the American Nurses Association.  The HMA offers health ministry’s consultation and support and various resources. The annual membership fee is $50. For more information go to www.hmassoc.org or call 1-800-723-4291  – The NEW edition of the Scope and Standards is available through this organization.

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving – – – “Maker of the Seasons, thank you for all that autumn teaches me. Change my focus so that I see not only what I am leaving behind, but also the harvest and the plentitude that my life holds. May my heart grow freer and my life more peaceful as I resonate with, and respond to, the many teachings this season offers to me.”                                                                              Joyce Rupp, “The Circle of Life”

As we gather with Family and Friends for the Thanksgiving Holiday Season – Let us also gather our thoughts of Thanksgiving and Gratitude to God in preparation for Advent.

 Comfort, Comfort, Ye My People

Comfort, Comfort ye my people, speak ye peace, thus saith our God: Comfort those who sit in darkness, mourning’ neath their sorrows load. Speak ye to Jerusalem of the peace that waits for them; tell her that her sins I cover and her warfare now is over.

Make ye straight what long was crooked; make the rougher places plain, let your hearts be true and humble, as befits his holy reign. For the glory of the Lord now o’er earth is shed abroad; and all flesh shall see the token that his Word never broken.                   Amen

(Covenant Hymnal #131, Based on Is40:1-5)
