Duluth Dementia Choir   Duluth is at work on becoming an Alzheimer’s Friendly community.

This is very timely with our Congregational Educational tool that you all have received (“Through the Wilderness”).  Carlton has been going through this process since last year and now Duluth is in this process. God has certainly helped with our timing in this community need;  For more resources on this process click on this LINK “Demetia  Friendly Faith Community”  at  http://www.actonalz.org/community-resources

Here are some suggestions from the website on Being a Welcoming Faith Community:

  • Always be respectful toward the person with Alzheimers
  • Wear a nametag and greet the person warmly, using simple sentences and calm voice
  • Be patient and accepting of the person’s behavior and appearance.
  • Resond in supportive ways
  • Help unite the person with family members if he or she appears to be disoriented or lost.
  • Send “thinking of you” notes and cards; include worship bulletins and newsletters to help the family stay connected.
  • Provide ongoing prayer support for the person with Alzheimer’s and family members.

As you begin your new season in ministry – –

May God’s Love Be Fixed Upon You

May God’s love be fixed upon above you, overshadow you with grace; may God’s love stand firm beneath you, welcome you with glad embrace! Alleluia! Alleluia! Glorify the Lord with praise!

May God’s love advance before you, vigilant of all your ways; may God’s love keep watch behind you, shielding you through all your days! Alleluia! Alleluia! Glorify the Lord with praise!

May God’s love be close beside you, qualify you for life’s race; may God’s love live deep within you, with assurance of his grace! Alleluia! Alleluia! Glorify the Lord with praise!

May God’s love remain upon you, and your faithfulness repay, with a peace the world can’t give you, neither shall it take away! Alleluia! Alleluia! Glorify the Lord this day!

(Covenant Hymn #669; words John Dalles, Music John Gross)
